One of the main problems associated with the Lough’s Landscape is litter, flotsam and jetsam on the shores of the Lough. This project will establish dedicated teams within each trust area to collect litter on a regular basis. The project will undertake at least 2 river litter picks and 2 Lough-shore litter picks in each Rivers Trust area per annum, monitor the type and volume of litter collected in each trust area, identify critical source areas for litter along the rivers in each catchment and promote awareness of littering, run education campaigns and competitions and in conjunction with partners target litter reduction.
